Top Rank's Bob Arum is waiting to speak with Manny Pacquiao to finalize the details of a proposed bout with WBO welterweight champon Miguel Cotto for November 14 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The two will meet at a catch-weight of 145-pounds. Arum has been able to wrangle out the terms of the fight with Cotto and his team. Now he wants to see if the terms are acceptable to Pacquiao.
"There is a huge problem. And it's not so much concerning the weight, or money going to to the two of them, or the percentages - no, this is not the problem. My problem is that I need to speak with Manny Pacquiao," Arum told The Record.
Arum, who promotes both fighters, says the two boxers want the fight, and so does the public.
"I think Manny wants that fight, Cotto wants this fight, the public want this fight, I want that fight and the whole world wants that fight because in a ring are the two best fighters on the planet," said Arum.
Arum told the paper that if Antonio Margarito is able to regain his boxing license, he would be a future option for both Cotto and Pacquiao.
