8 ounce gloves are Pacquiao's weapon of choice
Reports from Puerto Rican daily paper Primer Hora say that Team Manny Pacquiao has requested the use of 8 ounce gloves in their battle with Puerto Rico's Miguel Cotto.
Though the Nevada Athletic Commission mandates the use of 10 ounce gloves for fights about the 140 pound weight limit, this would not be the first time 8 ouncers would be used for bigger men. When Antonio Margarito and Miguel Cotto went to bloody war last Summer, the weapons of choice were the smaller mitts.
According to Carlos Gonzalez, top notch boxing reporter, Cotto's team is all for the use of the smaller, more lethal gloves.
During Manny Pacquiao's destruction of Ricky Hatton and De La Hoya, eight ounce gloves were used.
